Smarty Pants Product of the Week - Dirt Road Sisters Personalized Stationery

Product

Dirt Road Sisters Stationery

Smarty Pants Review
Just about a year ago I stumbled across Dirt Road Sisters. I believe I was on eBay searching for personalized stationery at an affordable price and Dirt Road Sisters had a number of designs listed and I was instantly drawn in. The designs were adorable and classy. I quickly bought a pack of notcards and a note pad for myself and a set for my munchkin. When they arrved, cutely wrapped in plastic and ribbon, I was hooked. The quality was outstanding! Within the next few months I ordered more for my daughter, mother, in-laws and all my cousins and aunts for Christmas that year. I remember each present being openned and the happiness each gift receiver had for such a "smart gift!"

Why is it a Smart Mama Product?
In a day where we tend to email everything, it is important to dedicate some time to actually write out a note. We all know how exciting it is when an actual card arrives in the mail, rather than just another bill. Also, as Smart Mamas, letter/note writing is essential to share with your munchkins.
I also find personalized notecards to be excellent gifts for Christmas, housewarmings, birthdays and other occassions.

The most important safety product in my home is most definitely the pool fence that protects my littlest munchkin from our pool. It doesn't stop me checking it a few hundred times a day though! You can never be too laid back about pool safety."

Free for Me Friday - She's a Swimmer!

I'm so proud of my muchkin. Today she received her 1st certificate - not counting her birth certificate! She received her Little Swimmers Certificate for completing a week of swimming lessons! She's just 20 months and can already save herself in the water. Through this intensive week of lessons she learned how to swim underwater to the wall and pull herself up. It was emotional - she cried for me everyday. She was understandable scared, however as the days went on she enjoyed it more and more. At the end not only did she get the certificate - but much more importantly she learned to defend herself if she were to fall into the pool! I couldn't be prouder!!

Over the coming weeks I will devote a number of postings on the importance of swimming and pool safety.

Have a great weekend!

Smarty Pants Product of the Week - My Precious Kid Medical ID Wristband

Product
My Precious Kid Medical ID Wristband
Smarty Pants Review

How important! My munchkin can clearly run around all over the place, however at her age she cannot communicate as children twice her age can. God forbid she were to get lost in the crowd at the stores, how would anyone know who she is and how to contact her mother??!! It's terrifying to even think! My Precious Kid Medical ID Wristband is what I will use anytime we leave the home. This wristband is stylish, comfortable, and very easy to customize. On the inside of the wristband is an insert that a parents completes, indicating all contact information on the child. Your munchkin then wears the wristband/bracelet as their "ID card." It's great! I also like how the colorful design makes it "fun" for the child.
Why is it a Smart Mama Product?
In the day we live in, safety of our children is of the utmost importance. This bracelet places the child's name, emergency contact info, doctor, and any important medical information directly on the child. Keeping your children safe is the #1 on a Smart Mama's list!

Love Hate Relationship with My Computers!

Well it's been quite a frustrating computer day here!

I'm usually so good about posting early in the AM however, today both my laptop and desktop are "sick." My laptop pretty much is a lemon. From the day we bought it we've had problems with it. I sent it in to the manufacturer to get it repaired and they sent it back to me with the same problem. LOL! Today I spent an hour on the phone with them trying to get the info on how to send it in AGAIN to get fixed. The customer service person was HORRIBLE! Where has customer service gone?? Wasn't the customer always right before?

Then, my good ole desktop that I love dearly decided to get super moody last night. It is crazy slow and acting all funky <- don't you love my technical terms! Anyway, I actually care more about my desktop than my laptop, so my determination has been with it this afternoon.

Ok, so that was way too much info on my horribly frustrating day! Have a great weekend and see you next week as I announce the next Smarty Pants Product of the Week and Giveaway! I promise you'll really like this one! It's an excellent product that moms, especially now when it's tis the season for family travel, should have for their kiddies!

See you Monday!!!

Smiles,
Caroline

Tuesday Toot - Paying the Bills!

I pay the bills! Well not all, but at least CVS and the groceries! I began selling things on eBay years ago and I restarted this obsession a few months ago when I realized I had quite an inventory of things to sell. I regularly post about 20 items a week, making anywhere from 50 - 150 a week! Each time I go shopping, I return home and transfer the amount I spent from PayPal into our bank account to pay the bills. I am very happy to be doing my part to help! It's certainly a Smart Mama move!

Smarty Pants Product of the Week - Cry Babyz Paci Pockets

Product
CryBabyz Paci Pockets bu Chic Pockets

Smarty Pants Review
We've all been there...just when your munchkin is in desperate need of her paci (i.e. church, stores...) you can't find it, or it's at the bottom of your purse, covered in who knows what! Yuck!
This past week I tried out the CryBabyz Paci Pocket. Essentially, it is a pacifier holder with an elastic/velcro band to attach it to a diaper bag. At this point, my daughter only uses her paci (we call it her tete) in bed, so I attached the pocket to her bedside. Each morning, or after nap time, I showed her to put her tete in its "house." She loves it, and so do I!

Why is it a Smarty Pants Product?
It's practical. It's affordable. Most children use pacifiers for a portion of their early years. Having a safe, clean place to store the pacifier, is smart. Additionally, it's very cute! The one I tried had little pink poodles and black dots. I also am very much a supporter of female owned businesses, and Chic Pockets is one!

Needless to say, I grabbed my camera, took a picture, and started cleaning out, and then took my "after" picture! Here's how it came out!

By the way, my lunch was yummy too!

Smarty Pants Product of the Week - Little Swimmers

Product
Huggies Little Swimmers - Disposable Swimpants

Smarty Pants Review
I’ll never forget the 1st time I took my munchkin in the pool. We were on an impromptu vacation to the Keys and she was just 6 months old. We remembered to pack nearly everything, including her little bathing suit and suntan lotion. However, what we didn't have was Little Swimmers. As very naïve new parents, we thought, products like Little Swimmers were not needed; regular diapers would work just fine. HA HA HA! Weren’t we fooled?! ?!?!?! After about 20 minutes of floating my little one in the pool and snapping a million photos of her splashing, we took her out to a HUGE surprise. The “regular” diaper seemed to have been attacked by aliens! It had tripled in size and had started to turn into some sort of gel-like substance! Ewwww! Ewwww! Ewwww! Never again!

Since that day, I will not subject my munchkin’s bum to anything but Little Swimmers when she’s swimming around in the pool! I use products that are designed for certain situations – swimmer diapers for swimming, regular diapers for regular events!

This week, in the tremendous heat of South Florida, she enjoyed the sprinkler and her kiddie pool, always wearing her Finding Nemo Little Swimmers!

Why is it a Smart Mama Product?
No more alien attacked diapers! First, and for most, these diapers are designed for wear in water. There is no reason for your munchkin to have anything less when taking a dip in the pool! It’s smart. It’s the right product for your little one!
I also want to add that I LOVE designs on the diapers! The make the diaper look more like a piece of clothing than underwear!

Tackle It Tuesday - The Party Supplies

Tackle It Tuesday Meme

Smart Mama Move: Organize your party supplies in the same area. When it's time for party planning you'll save yourself time, energy and frustration!

I took on a great tackle this weekend. During my post-BBQ clean up on Sunday, I decided to make sense of my "party goods." Prior to the tackle, I had plastic utensils all over the place - a few in the kitchen drawer, a bag in the hallway closet and even some in the garage. The same goes for cocktail napkins and other things. I had to spend too much time last week gathering the supplies so I decided to organize them together - imagine that!

Here are 2 drawers that I have my dining room that were being used to collect random things - what a mess!

Now, they neatly hold all my cocktail napkins (stored in plastic bags by pattern), cloth napkins for baskets, cheese/butter spreaders (also in a plastic bag), utensils, napkin holders and some other little things.

What a difference!
