Thursday Thirteen - Why I'm Excited to Save $$$

Thursday Thirteen has a theme this week, but as usual I'm very bad at following directions ;-)
Actually, I had thought up what I wanted to write up before I read about the theme.

Yesterday, I visited one of my daily blog visits, Carrie's Cooking. She wrote again about something called The Grocery Game. She's mentioned it before, but I had never had the chance to really sit down and check it out. Well, I did and I'm SOOOOOOOO excited. I joined the game yesterday!

So what is it? I know we all agree that the price of everything keeps going up and up and up. I can't even admit how much we spent on groceries last week. You would have thought I was feeding the Army! I'm good with coupons, and trying to buy things on sale, but I never really feel organized, as if I'm not really getting the best deal. Well, The Grocery Game, Terri specifically, does all the organizing for you. She provides a list each week for your local supermarket, Publix in my case, with all the deals of the week. Within that list she matches what's on sale to what has had a coupon published recently in the Sunday paper for example. Then she color codes the list. Green items are must buys, they are essentially free if you use the coupon and the store sale. Items listed in blue are stockpile ones. Even if you aren't in need of the item, but it now with the coupon and sale so you won't need to run out and pay full price later. Items in black are just standard sale. You can get a decent savings but it's not worth stockpiling.

Anyway, I'll report each week on my savings! Testimonials on the site say people have saved $500 a month using her system!!!
If you decide to join in on the game, please indicate that you were referred by me: cubtie@aol.com
